Dusti Ensemble to perform in Shiraz next week

10/22/2011

Iranian traditional music ensemble Dusti with veteran vocalist Shahram Nazeri and tar virtuoso Hossein Alizadeh are scheduled to give concerts in Shiraz on October 30 and 31.

Members of the ensemble are willing to give concerts in different cities across the country, director of the Music Association of Fars Mohsen Khabbaz said on Saturday.

After a 23-year hiatus, members of the disbanded Iranian traditional music ensemble Chavosh came together in July to restore broken relations in a new group named Dusti (friendship).

According to Nazeri, the Dusti Ensemble was formed by Alizadeh and Nazeri himself over the past year.

Kamancheh virtuosos Ardeshir Kamkar and Sina Jahanabadi, percussionist Pejman Haddadi and master of ney Siamak Jahangiri are among the members of the band, Khabbaz said.

The ensemble is due to continue their performances here in Tehran on November 5 and 6.
