Traditional Iranian music icon Shahram Nazeri will give a free concert for Rumi aficionados in Konya, Turkey.

Like previous years, Nazeri will have performances in Turkey on the anniversary of the death of Molana Jalal ad-Din Rumi, observed annually in Konya during the last weeks of December.

“The concerts will be a little gift for fans and lovers of Rumi,” the winner of Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur medal Nazeri.

He was presented with the Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur medal in Paris on September 29 for his scholarly interest he has taken in the musical interpretation and vocalization of the transcendent lyrics of Rumi.

He said that they will hold concerts on December 13 and 15 in Konya and all pieces composed at the concerts are selected from Rumi’s poetry.

Hossein Parnia on santur, Farid Elhami on shurangiz, Saber Nazargahi on tar, Saeid Nayeb-Mohammadi on ud, Farhad Safari on daf, Yunes Paknejad on kamancheh and Shahram Mehdi on daf accompanied Nazeri during the concerts.

Iranian Turkey’s International Mevlana Foundation paid homage to Nazeri in 2010.
